Dear friends,
If you're looking for tax-deductible donations for 2013, please consider Colorado Public Banking.
In the past 3 years, we've brought three versions of our publicly owned state bank amendment through the Colorado initiative process.
About 8 months ago, we began posting documentation and analysis regarding these efforts and other political, economic, and banking events.
During this time, we have refined our proposed amendment to the state constitution and forced various state executive, legislative, and judicial bodies to declare their positions on the matter of leveraging public monies in the public interest.
We have also forced the main opposition, the bankers--in the form of the Colorado Bankers Association and the Independent Bankers of Colorado--to come out from behind closed doors, as "lobbyists," and declare their position.
Up until this last round, those of us involved in this campaign have paid for the expenses from our own pockets. The costs have mainly been in time, transportation, photocopies, and some filing fees.
Now that we are challenging rulings before the Colorado Supreme Court, we are running into increased expenditures for transcripts and filing fees.
In addition, once a title is set, we will be moving on to the petition process, where we will be seeking to gather the required signatures to get on the ballot. This may take a few years, but the big positive in doing this through the initiative process is that we are always educating more folks who will eventually vote on this matter.
Preparing for this new phase, we have recently gained 501(c)3 non-profit status by contracting with ISI (our fiscal sponsor, EIN: 94-2524840), an umbrella organization for similar groups, including the Public Banking Institute.
We are therefore initiating our first fundraising drive to pay for our recent expenses and to begin to organize for the petition process. Our current expenses look like this:
Transcripts: $351.65
Filing fees: $150.00
501(c)3 set up costs: $750.00 (spread over the next 3 months)
Total: $1251.65
If you’re interested in helping us defray these costs and supporting our ongoing efforts, please consider a donation and sending a check to:

Any amount helps.
Thanks for your support!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Bob Bows
